Chunk Bench Match Rules

  1. Public Match (by invitation only)
  2. All Gemmer Range Rules Apply and NMLRA Safety Rules
  3. Visitors must sign range waiver
  4. Distance: 60 Yards
  5. Bench: Club or Shooter Supplied
  6. Front Rest: Club or Shooter Supplied (Pad allowed the thickness of a piece of leather)
  7. Rifle:
    Style: Traditional Muzzleloaders Only, Flintlock or Percussion
    Weight: No Limit
    Caliber: Any
    Sights: Any metallic sights, Open and Aperture
    Shadders: Yes
    Diopters: Yes
    False Muzzles: If Used, they need to be connected to the loading bench
  8. Target: Gemmer Chunk Gun Targets.  Shooter supplies their own spotter.
  9. Shots: 10 (relay shooting)
  10. Scoring: String method. (2″ max string per relay, or 20′ max string per match)
    1. Rules are just like our Chunk Gun Match (prone), but shot off a bench.
  11. Prizes: Cash
  12. Cost: $15
  13. 50/50 Card Game

Shooting starts at 10am so please arrive early to setup. Gates will be open by 8:30am.

4-19-2026 – Board Match

All Gemmer Range Rules Apply and NMLRA Safety Rules
Visitors must sign range waiver
Distance: 35 Yards
Bench: Clubs or Shooters
Front Rest: Clubs or Shooters (Pad allowed the thickness of a piece of leather)
Rifle:
False Muzzles: If used they need to be connected to the loading bench
Target: Shooter bring pine board and spotter to shoot. 6 X’s cut on board to set spotter over and shoot.
Spotter shot 3 times for practice before 6 scoring shots. Pine board needs to be 26” long to attach to wood range frames. 24” is the maximum width, with 8” recommended width.
Shots: 3 practice and 6 scoring
Scoring: Center of each shot is measured to X. Half round ball used with center point marked. Shooters bring their own half round balls same caliber as being shot.
Similar to Bloomsdale Rules
Prizes: Cash or meat
Cost: $15

Caliber: Any
Sights: Any metallic sights, Open and Aperture
Shadders: Yes

Target:  6 bull provided by club (SB-1)
Shots: 10 (2 per bull with 1 practice bull)
Scoring: 100 point system
Relays: 2 if needed
Prizes: Cash
Cost: $15
