What a great way to end the 2024 shooting season!  Beautiful weather for shooting, a great turnout, and we voted in a new member, Fred Engelhard.  32 matches were shot by 25 participants.  Fred was sponsored by Greg Grimes.  Welcome to the Gemmer club Fred!

So many members helped make the 2024 season a great one.  We would like to offer a special thank you to the following members:

  • Rhonda Buckowitz for providing us with great food and drinks for each of our events.
  • Our Range Officer, Art Buckowitz, and the Assistant Range Officers, Bob Coffelt and Ken Hubbman, for ensuring that everyone was safe at the range and organizing the various matches.
  • Our Treasurer and Range Maintenance Manager, Brad Dickinson, for all you do to keep the range well maintained.
  • Those that hosted additional shooting matches, such as the Chunk Gun Match (Walter Fett), Archery Matches (Jim Feeney), and Woods Walk Matches (Mike Briscoe).

Just as a reminder, there is a meat shoot at Stony Hill next Sunday at 12:30pm and Ron Lawrence to hosting a meat shoot at our range on Jan. 5, 2025 at 12:30pm.

The Gemmer Club is participating in the Boone Trail Klondike Derby Scouts event at the Beaumont Scout Reservation.

Name of the Event:  Booneslick Trail Klondike Derby
Theme of the Event:  “Expanding the Frontier”
Date: January 25, 2025
Time: 8am-3pm
Location:  Beaumont Scout Reservation, 6480 Beaumont Reservation Dr., High Ridge, MO 63049
 
Description:  The Gemmer Club will have a primitive camp setup with 2 or 3 tents/teepees.  We will be dressed in Rendezvous clothing and share history about the westward movement with the Scouts from our camp.  We can not shoot a firearm, but we can bring them to show and discuss with the Scouts.  Fire starting and the Hawk and knife throw is acceptable activities for us to demonstrate.  We can use this as an opportunity to promote both the Gemmer Club and the Hawken Classic event on May 16-18, 2025.
